      We need a management report of the firewall rules. For now I'm just saving the "Firewall-NAT" page to a PDF, but they want something a bit more "readable". Unless I'm just overlooking it I did not see anything in the regular pfSense Diagnostics or Status menus, nor any add-on packages that do this type of reporting.

      I've also done a good bit of searching the forums but have not found anything too similar other than this where the poster never did provide enough input to warrant an answer: https://forum.pfsense.org/index.php?topic=106005.msg590634#msg590634

      Is there a better approach than just taking the output of "pfctl -sn" or "pfctl -sr" and formatting with sed or other scripting tool into HTML?

        why is a screen shot of the firewall gui rules not enough?  this should be easy enough for anyone to interpret.. Are you looking for rules that changed or new ones so you want to diff an output?

          johnpoz,

          This customer was acquired recently. We were just asked to run  a firewall report for them.  When I asked what do you want on it, they said just run a basic report we'll tell you what changes we need once we see it - i.e. they don't know.

          The parent firm has been using Sonicwall in most of their other locations - not sure what kind of reports they are used to, just wanted to put our best foot forward.

          I'll probably do a "save to PDF" rather than a screen shot, but same principle.  Probably do these pages:

          • Status->System Logs->Firewall->Summary View

          • Status->RRD Graphs

          • Firewall ->NAT

          • Firewall ->Rules

          • Firewall ->Aliases

          • Firewall ->Traffic Shaper

          Thanks.

            Or you could just dump the rules via

            pfctl -vvsr

            And be done with it ;)
