Blacklist not downloading in pfsense 2.3 SquidGuard
-
Dear All,
Please i am using Squid + SquidGuard in the new pfsense 2.3. I am having issues downloading the blacklist and i am sure this is a bug. Can someone help me with a workaround.I had already tried some but it is not working.
-
I am suffering from the same issue and I have doubts it is related to write permission.
First I had to use google chrome to display the progress of the download and DB build status.
Then it says complete successfully, but there is no target category found downloaded.
!!!!!! Very strange !!!!!!
Another scenario is that I downloaded the blacklist successfully on pfsense 2.2.6 and after I upgraded to 2.3 it was found there but the problem extended to SQUID not to start at all :-\ :-\

solved for me I have had the same problem for since I installed pfsense 2.3 squid would not work when I reinstalled and backed up for some reason in the squid advanced options under Integrations this code was put in there (url_rewrite_program /usr/local/bin/squidGuard -c /usr/local/etc/squidGuard/squidGuard.conf;url_rewrite_bypass off;url_rewrite_children 16 startup=8 idle=4 concurrency=0) I removed it and squid started right up now squid and squid guard are working perfect

I'had the same problem, i solved it using Microsoft Edge. Firefox and chrome have both the same problem.

I had the same problem. Tried to download blacklist with Internet Explorer and it seem that Firefox has some issues with this new interface of pfsense….

Dear All,
Problem Solved :) !!
Under Services Menu -> Proxy filter SquidGuard -> General settingsGeneral settings -> Black List options:
You need to tick mark (Check this option to enable Black List)
Plus, you need to fill the field (Blacklist URL) with the download link of your wish black list.
When above steps complete, then you proceed with the blacklist download and it will work :)

I did , and it is not solved.
just I checked with internet explorer, it is working !!!!!! -

Could it be a problem with Nginx?
In the past, when i used Zentyal, Ii had troubles caused by the Nginx service that displayed the user interface of Zentyal. maybe it could be the same for pfSense…
(just a tought)Edit----------
In fact. IE solved the problem so, my question is
WHY?!Why do this open source firewall mus rely on a privative browser to work properly?
Hopefully, this gets fixed on 2.3.1Anyways, Where are we supposed to report this kind of issues?
Greetings

There is a strange thing to this: I loggin in onto the pfsense in MS edge, downloaded the blacklist again, rebooted, loggen in (still in Edge) the target rules where visible. After I done that, I logged in on the pfsense using Firefox. And… the target rules where showing here too now!!!
-
I confirm that in last version (2.3.1 RC x64), the probleme is still here.
Need Microsoft Edge to download the blacklist (don't work with firefox either chrome). And even in Edge, there's no list in Target Category, but they're visible in Common ACL !?! Is it normal ?
I've try to reinstall three time. Configure each time. And I found that the proxy is very unstable. Very weird thing appear (one time i can access internet throught proxy, another i can't wihtout any reason)…
-
edge/IE vs firefox/chrome: It's a common bug now, so should be solved in next release?
Target category: Yes, that's normal. In Target categories you can make your own blacklist and whitelist(s). In Common/Groups ACL these targets are visible as a category "inside" the downloaded blacklist. The naming of target categories is not very clear, though.
Simple format: make a blacklist and a whitelist in target categories (or not), make groups ACL for certain IP adresses and make a common ACL for the rest of your IP adresses. Don't forget to click Save and after that Reply in General settings after the changes.

this works for me too! ;D

WOW… I've been pulling my hair out for 3 weeks trying to get this to work on 2.3.1 with Firefox. Clicking on the download button does nothing, status bar just pops over for a second then goes back to 0%.
Just switched over to Internet Explorer 11, and it works! I'm happy I found the answer ;D but what a waste of time >:( -
I agree with mikenchi. I guess it is browser related issue but i don't have a theory what causing the issue. Just switch from different browser if you are using firefox. I tested it in Microsoft Edge, IE 11 and chrome.
