Pfsense 2.3 + squid not caching

Hello folks,

Fresh install of pFsense 2.3, fresh install of squid and I got squid running but there is no caching activity from the cache logs and the access logs. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Addendum:

There are no error messages in the cache logs. All I see are the startup and shutdown entries:

For the moment I have disabled Squid3
