    Hi,

On the Boot_Troubleshooting wiki page the section entitled "NanoBSD on Newer Hardware" is out of date with respect to recent pfSense versions. Correct instructions for enabling DMA and write cache for pfSense 2.2 and later can be found further down the page by inverting the instuctions in the sections entitled "Disable DMA for IDE drives" and "Disable Write Caching"

This could cause some confusion for new users.

Did you even need to make those changes?

The page is a bit out of date, but it does not appear that we disable DMA nor write caching on NanoBSD any longer, so that whole section can likely be removed.

I was experiencing very poor performance with my CF based install so I did try with dma enabled and disabled. Didn't make any difference in the end,the cause was bug 2401, as detailed in the errata to the 2.2.4 release

As an aside it's a bit much to expect new users to start by reading the errata to the release before last! It may be better to mention the issue with slow CF cards and how to fix it somewhere more prominent on the wiki.
