After upgrade to 2.3, error checking for system update

After upgrade to 2.3

in dashboard:
Obtaining update status never gets the status

using menu System / Update
after a minute I get
504 Gateway Time-out
nginx

my HW is PC engines
I always have both errors (it is not sometimes works sometimes not)
