USB WiFi Shuts off after x min
-
Hey All-
I snagged a cheapie Linksys USB G adapter which is supported by PFsense 6.2 release. I installed and configed it with no issue. However, after x min (1-15 depending on its mood) from reboot the thing shuts off, power light gone, no wifi. Any ideas? -

Thought perhaps that but it's not.. weirdest part: if i don't assign it an interface it stays powered the whole time (power LED= solid)

Do you get any messages in the systemlog when that happens?

None, everything thinks it's working fine, all the settings are available etc. I'm leaning in the direction of it's the adapters fault though…

You could try to use it with the 1.2.1 beta which is based on FreeBSD7 and see if it works better.
Have you tried to use this adaptor on another computer with another system?

Okay, once again not a PFSense problem it appears.. migrated to a new box, and now it seems to be working okay.. terminal showed ural0: Cisco-Linksys … etc connected
ural0: MAC/BP RT257u0
ural0: Ethernet Address [mac]
ural0: if_start running deferred for Giantthen started listing the bridge MAC's as i configured it… only issue is it's now DIRT slow.. 700kbps slow.. I know it's USB but there's only one wifi client, it's USB 2.0... etc... Any insights? I'm ecstatic it's working, and works for web browsing, but even pandora radio it out at this point... lol
