I have a separate VLAN for the kids. It's set up with safe-search, malware and adult content filtering, etc. They're bandwidth limited and I have them blocked from a couple access points (no wifi outside for the kids). Anyway, I've set up a rule to only enable IPv4 access during certain times. They have internet access from 8 AM to 8 PM on school nights and 8 AM to 10 PM on weekends.

The only problem I have with this setup is that on days like the Sunday before Labor Day, other than going in and adding all weekday non-school days on the calendar, what is the best way to allow access on non-school days of the week that would normally be a school day?

I was thinking about just adding a rule above the allow access and having it disabled normally, but going in and enabling it as necessary. Thoughts?

That's the easiest way to do it.

I had a similar setup when my kids were younger, one VLAN for each kid, with VLAN steering on the wifi side so they each ended up on their own one, and VLAN had a set of rules with its own schedule, and then 2 additional disabled rules, one before the schedule rule to override the schedule, and one before that to block all traffic, like when they didn't do their chores...amazing how fast the chores got done when that rule was enabled!

          Thanks.

Just ended up moding it a bit. Access all rule with no restrictions on the bottom. Above it is a rule to block WAN at the scheduled times. I can now go in and disable that rule for holidays and non school day week nights.
