SG-1100 dies, problem appears to be pcscd
-
My SG-1100 (running 21.05) fails every few weeks. It appears that some processes (notably unbound) have been killed, and pcscd is using all the memory:
USER PID %CPU %MEM VSZ RSS TT STAT STARTED TIME COMMAND
root 11578 0.0 66.5 679384 671332 u0- S 24Aug21 27:00.73 /usr/local/sbin/pcscdGoogling, I see references to a memory leak in pcscd. Should I just kill it after booting?

Update to 21.05.1-RELEASE - pcscd service should be disabled by default then.

It's still enabled in 21.05.1, it's 21.09 where it will be off by default. See https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/11933
You can install the System Patches package and then create an entry for
afcc0e9c97c1993ae6b95f886665fcb4375d26c7
to apply the fix which will prevent the service from starting by default. -
Strange, I'm running 21.05.1-RELEASE and the pcscd Service shows stopped. I never touched anything related to pcscd manually.

Just applied the patch afcc0e9c97c1993ae6b95f886665fcb4375d26c7 and rebooted.
It started with the service disabled, thanks.Device and firmware: 21.05.1 / SG-3100.
