wan port mode setting problem
-
Hello, does the wan port of pfsense support setting to bridge mode?
-
Need more details there.
The WAN 'port' would be whatever you assign the interface to.
The WAN interface can be bridged to another interface.
What are you trying to do?Steve
-
@stephenw10I want to bridge the wan port to the optical cat, and then I use ros to set up dial-up Internet to switch to nat. I don’t want to use pfsense for nat conversion
-
Hmm, maybe some terms lost in translation there!
You want to put pfSense between the local fibre ONT and something behind it doing PPPoE?
What are you using pfSense for in this scenario?
Steve
-
Yes, I want to deploy pfsense between ont and pppoe. I want to use the IDS and IPS functions of pfsense.
-
Mmm, well yes you could do that. I have no idea how the PPPoE encapsulation would affect what it can see though. You'd almost certainly be better running PPPoE on pfSense and IDS/IPS on that traffic directly.
