I'm trying to get email notifications working since changing email servers. My pfSense is running release 2.5.2.

When I enter a new FQDN into the "E-Mail server" box in Notifications and press "Save", it consistently reverts to the original (invalid) value. Using "Test SMTP Settings" also always fails since it never sees the updated settings which are reverted by the save.

Other fields, such as SMTP Port, update properly. It seems to be a problem unique to the server specification field.

I tried using different browsers (Firefox, Edge), but same misbehavior. Seems like a bug.

      Any ideas?

      Thanks!

@neild I'm not seeing that on a 2.5.2. We have an IP but I can change it. Any chance a browser or password plugin is doing autocomplete? I've run into that with various password fields.

Does Diagnostics/Backup & Restore/Config History show the change?

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.

          Hi Steve - Brilliant suggestion.

Evidently my password manager was pre-empting my updates. Now email works!

          Thanks,

          Neil
