      Have a r210 with a 10gtek running pfsense with out issue, with the fans under os control its quiet and low power.

      Are their any future hardware requirements coming soon that would require a upgrade?

      Aes was going to be needed at one point but that got pushed back so not sure if that's going to be needed anytime soon.

      Thoughts?

        Have a r210 with a 10gtek running pfsense with out issue,

        Hi,

        We have cca. 2-3 pcs. Dell R210II running with pfSense 2.5.2, with no problems.

        CPU: Intel Xeon Processor E3-1220 v2 family + w/ AES (32G RAM)

        We don't plan to change this, as it can achieve a high clock speed (3,4-3,7) + of 4C/8T and it benefits our OVPN servers, it satisfies the current load.
        (otherwise these our OVPN entry points are not used for anything else)

        The only problem with this installation is that without the add-on there is no SATA 6Gb/s,

        since the SLOT(1 - only1)) is clamped by the 4 port NIC and the motherboard SATA only 3Gb/s, but since it is a firewall there is no noticeable significant difference or problem in DISK I/O

        +++edit BTW the FANs: ๐Ÿ˜‰

        kldload ipmi
        ipmitool raw 0x30 0x30 0x01 0x00
        ipmitool raw 0x30 0x30 0x02 0xff 0x10

        Cats bury it so they can't see it!
        (You know what I mean if you have a cat)
