Notitfy me if pingtime high
-
Is there a way to be notified when outgoing pingtime exceeds limit for number of consecutive high pings specified, (eg to 1.1.1.1). I'm finding that my upload is being saturated, and then slows my whole internet.
Mostly when a guest is in my house, and their phone is uploading videos and photos...

Sending out a mail when the outgoing connection (WAN) is already saturated ?
What about the usual : put all unknown or visitor devices on a separate network, and use bandwidth throttle for this entire network. Like : If you have 10 Mbits to share, give them that number, and let them fight for it while your LAN still stays usable.
The gateway monitor (dpinger) makes stats, see the Sastus > Monitoring, it isn't able to send mail on events.
I've made this many years ago.Btw : the mail, don't send it to yourself. Have it send too your ISP.

You can get alerts for gateway events so you only need tune your gateway monitoring to trigger at those levels. I would also set it to monitor something external, like 1.1.1.1.
Yes, the usual solution here would be to apply a Limiter to all traffic from a guest subnet so they cannot saturate your WAN upload.
