SG 2100-MAX Combo Port Support
-
Hello. I have a question regarding SG-2100 MAX Combo Port. Currently I have FTTH connection to a fiber gateway and then a UTP cable is connected to the WAN port of SG-2100 MAX. I am thinking of moving the fiber connection from the gateway to SG-2100 SFP port. However the connection to the gateway is SC/ APC. Is this supported on SG-2100 ?
TIA

The SFP port is 'hard wired' to appear as 1000baseSX, it can only link at 1G. However that actually means most modules work there including some obscure stuff as long as it is 1G.
What SFP module are you planning to use exactly?
Is it a GPON module? That is less likely to work.

I don't have a choice since this is the only type of connection I can use. So it will not work.
Thanks for the information.

So..... it is GPON?

Yes. It is a GPON adapter. Unfortunately I can't test it now and the connection is internal and built-in inside the fiber gateway. So I was just checking if GPON adapters are compatible with Netgate hardware before getting one.

Ah, yes. Well it might work. Unfortunately we have no way test so I cannot be sure.
There have been a few threads about it here but I don't think anyone have actually tested it yet.Steve
