      Hello,

I upgrade a XG-7100 to 21.05.2 (pfSense+) a couple of days ago. After the reboot I started to experience an issue where charon would log thousands (~8000) of messages per second as follows

      • charon[39433]: 02[CFG] C_GetSlotInfo failed: SLOT_ID_INVALID
      • charon[39433]: 02[CFG] error in C_WaitForSlotEvent: GENERAL_ERROR

I was able to reduce the number of message by setting the IPSec Logging controls - Configuration Backend to "Silent". A side of this was that charon was now consuming 100% of one CPU. Looking through the forums (and google searches), I discovered discussions regarding the pcscd issues (memory leak etc). I stopped IPSec, enabled pcscd, and started IPSec. The logging issue is now resolved, with everything seeming to be stable. I thought these issues were resolved in this release? Should this be reported as a bug?

      Thanks.

        Hello,

I fixed this by applying the patch listed here:

        https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/11933

        Thanks.
