DNS Resolver not honouring alternate domain names from DHCP
-
I have an issue where hosts are getting the correct domain suffix from DHCP (e.g.: host.foo.domain.com) however this is not being registered correctly in the DNS Resolver.
Instead, reverse DNS lookups resolve hosts to the domain specified in System > General Setup > Domain (i.e.: host.domain.com) and whatever is specified in the DHCP server is being ignored.
Both "Register DHCP leases in the DNS Resolver" and "Register DHCP static mappings in the DNS Resolver" are enabled. System Domain Local Zone Type is set to "Transparent".
Any ideas on how to resolve this issue? (Pardon the pun)

After many days of trying to resolve this issue, I'm no closer to an answer.
This begs the question, what's the point of the alternate domain name via DHCP if only the client itself knows about it?

I've been in touch with the pfSense team who have stated that this shouldn't happen, particularly if the DHCP registration is enabled however I'm seeing conflicting posts elsewhere on the internet that this is a known issue. Is anyone else able to confirm this?
