Is there a way to to this? Can I just install the newest 64bit version and then apply a backup of the older i386 version?

@batrams I believe you should install the current pfSense 2.5.2 and restore your old configuration...why you took so long to upgrade? I would think you can expect some amount of reconfiguration especially if you have some packages in the mix as some stuff got deprecated.

Good question about why I waited. At least the 32-bit version was the latest and still supported. The upgrade went perfectly as far as I can tell. Thanks!

No 32 bit versions have not actually been "supported" for years.. 2.3.4 was EOL long time ago, they gave like 2 years notice that was coming to and end. Sent out multiple reminders and even blogged about it coming to an end.

32-bit support has been deprecated and removed – There are no images available for 32-bit (x86/i386) Intel architecture systems

also 2.3.4 wasn't even the latest in the 2.3.x line 2.3.5p1 (2018-05-14) was, 2.3.4 was released 2017-05-04, more than likely that hardware is what like 5 years old?

oops - I guess I assumed 'Latest' meant more than just that. Oh well, now all is well.

Or just hang out around here - there is normally quite a bit of whoha about new releases as they come out.
