I have a dual wan setup that is working between my 2 providers.

However my main provider (cable company) has congestion in their network from time to time during peak time at night. I know.. shocker.

I have my Gateway Group setup with
      ISP1 as Tier1
      ISP2 as Tier2

And to fail over on Member Down. However the system keeps failing over due to packet loss. I'm a bit stumped as to why it's doing that. Member Down to me means... 100% loss. Not the 20-30% it's seeing when it fails over.

I've tried changing the monitored IP from 4.2.2.2 to 8.8.8.8 and others, but same results. (My ISP1 has crapping peering in Phoenix so backhauls a lot to their peers in Chicago).

Anyway... just wondering if there is a way to get it to behave the way I thought it should with 100% down/loss then fail over vs what it is currently doing.

      Thanks

What pfSense indicates as member down depends on the configured threshold settings.

If you're not happy with the preset values go to System > Routing > Gateways, edit the gateway settings, display the advanced options and change it to fit your needs.

          Sweet. Thanks. Missed that knob.
