3 days before my netgate sg 1100 was unresponsive all of a sudden. When I plug in the power adapter, initially no light blinks after few minutes the circle light begins to blinks fast (the light is not as bright as it used to be). I checked the power adapter with the multimeter and is working fine. I have tried connection through the serial port only to get a blank putty screen.

Bought the device 2 years back so, no warranty. Is my device gone for good ? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Surprisingly, my device went faulty few hours after taking the survey from Netgate. IRONIC !!!

Hmm, that doesn't sound good. The 'green circle', power, should come on immediately when the PSU is connected and remain solid.
Your symptoms are odd since it starting to flash after some time implies some change. I would expect to remain constant if it was not booting.

Could still be the power supply. The fact that it’s slow at coming up with the green circle (and not as bright), could indicate that the power supply is very very hard pressed to deliver workable current at the required voltage level to the box. The thing with switching power supplies are, that they might have a fine voltage when no resistance (power draw) is present. But the second you apply resistance, voltage drops - and in this case drops a little to much.

Love the no fuss of using the official appliances :-)

Indeed if you see it flashing like that it's usually the power supply shutting down and restarting for some reason. That could be a bad power supply or it could be something on the board drawing too much current. The PSU may still measure good with no load in the former case. It's worth trying an alternative power supply if you have one.

Thank you all for your reply. I did manage to get the cheap alternative power adapter with the same voltage and ampere, device had the same behaviour as with the original power adapter. Am now guessing it's the device.

              Thank you again. Good Day.
