        Sorry for posting to an old thread but the "classic" example was not posted:

          Its not a test site, but I suppose if you get nothing you know ipv6 isn't working.

            I created ipv6.getmyip.com to test my IPv6 connectivity.
            It only has an AAAA record and it only returns your IPv6 address if your IPv6 stack is working properly (otherwise it doesn't return anything).

            It works great with curl (which is the main reason I built it).

              For rudimentary testing of ipv6 connectivity I found a couple simple public ipv6 addresses that can be used in the pfsense Diagnostics/Ping and Traceroute pages:

              (OpenDNS) 2620:0:ccd::2 and 2620:0:ccc::2
              (Google) 2001:4860:4860::8888 and 2001:4860:4860::8844

                For simple testing, I just ping ipv6.google.com. Easy to remember.

                    Hmmm...

                    your Primary IP type is ipv6
                    You are connecting from Scarborough, Ontario, Canada
                    your ISP is Rogers Communications Canada Inc.

                    your Secondary IP type is ipv4
                    Secondary connection is from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada L4T 1A1
                    your secondary ISP is Rogers Communications Canada Inc.

                    My ISP is Rogers, but the head end I'm connected to is located in Mississauga, Ontario. I wonder how I manage to be connecting from 2 different locations, neither of which is the one closest to me. Their Etobicoke (west end of Toronto) office is fairly small and I'm not sure of where the Scarborough (east end of Toronto) office is located.

                      Why does this seem like spam to me.. Why does someone join a site just to advertise some site - other than just spam!!!

                      I wouldn't hit that site with your ____ if you know what I mean!

                      There is one thing if you have user X that has been here in the community, and then there is a thread that says hey where do you test Y.. suggesting a site, and then there is accounts that join, and same instant suggest go X.. I should just delete and ban this account.. But its not from IN, so will give the benefit of doubt... For now.

                          Speedtest supports IPv6, provided it's on a server that does. My ISP has a few speedtest sites and they support it. I've verified that with Wireshark.

                            @jknott But that's not what I got when I first tried the URL, I got a domain parked message and a link to install a browser plugin. I copied and pasted the URL.

                              I guess you missed my point. I have no idea about that link you provided, as I only go to speedtest.net and usually choose a site run by my ISP.

                                domains with stuff with - and then some common normal domain are almost always just crap..

                                  One exception is ipv6.google.com. If you don't have IPv6, you can't reach it.

                                    @jknott that is not a ipv6-google now is it ;) That is just a google fqdn..

                                    ipv6-google is a domain while ipv6.google is a host in the google domain.

                                    That fqdn ipv6-speedtest doesn't even have AAAA.

                                        If you run a packet capture, you'll likely find it uses both IPv4 and IPv6, if available.

                                          And as mentioned, that domain is dead now anyway even on ipv4

                                            @JKnott well your not talking to that domain via IPv6 on the get go that is for sure

                                            Here's what I get with a host lookup.

                                            host speedtest.net
                                            speedtest.net has address 151.101.194.219
                                            speedtest.net has address 151.101.2.219
                                            speedtest.net has address 151.101.66.219
                                            speedtest.net has address 151.101.130.219
                                            speedtest.net has IPv6 address 2a04:4e42:400::731
                                            speedtest.net has IPv6 address 2a04:4e42:200::731
                                            speedtest.net has IPv6 address 2a04:4e42::731
                                            speedtest.net has IPv6 address 2a04:4e42:600::731

                                            There sure seems to be some IPv6 addresses there. Prior to posting my comment, I verified both IPv4 and IPv6 were used, though I had known that for quite some time.

                                            I did a host lookup on the name and got an IPv4 address back, but it was dead. I expect this was just a test address for IPv6 initially, just like Google had an IPv6 only host name.

                                            Here's some info:

                                            Requirements for IPv6 Functionality

                                            PfSense running on Qotom mini PC
                                            i5 CPU, 4 GB memory, 32 GB SSD & 4 Intel Gb Ethernet ports.
                                            UniFi AC-Lite access point

                                            I haven't lost my mind. It's around here...somewhere...
