      Just setting up a new SG-6100 and am getting NO
      connectivity from the SFP port (WAN1) and FTTH 1G
      fiber. When the fiber is run through a media converter and I use the eth cable from the converter, the eth (WAN1) port works fine. The GPON is a huawei SmartAX
      MA5671A. Does anyone know if there is a compatibility
      issue with this type of GPON ? I have opened a support
      ticket but this should work.so I'm a little stumped!

        I reviewed your ticket, we discussed this internally. For the benefit of others though...

        We have no way to know if that module can be made to work. As far as I know no GPON modules have been tested in the 6100. However it might given that it works in a media converter which wouldn't be providing anything special to the module.

        The first thing to check would be to see if the module is recognised at all in any of the ports. So insert the module then run for WAN2:

        ifconfig -vvvm ix2

        Or for WAN3:

        ifconfig -vvvm ix0

        Steve

          @stephenw10 Ok I'll do that and report back.

          But I must say that I am surprised that you have NOT tested GPONs in the SFP port. Wouldn't it be safe to say that service from an Internet Upstream provider other than in a data center could reasonably be expected to be delivered via this method ? All of the small businesses I work with here either get a Bell Canada Fiber hookup using this GPON or a local Cable company that provides RJ-45 handoff. Last I checked the SG-6100 was NOT designed to service a Cage in a Datacenter, I would think that that option would be covered by the 7100's and up.
          One more question I have with respect to these ports, why are there NO LEDs indicating connection and service ? I was thinking that the port was actually not working at some point as there is NO visual cue like for the ETH port.

            The combo-ports, WAN1 and WAN2, share the link status LEDs with the RJ-45 port. If it is linked you will see the LEDs:

            Unfortunately we cannot test a huge number of modules. GPON is common in some places but far less so in others. I have no access to anything to test personally.

            Are you able to run those command with a module present in either port?

            Steve

              @stephenw10 I ran the tests as you mentioned and here is what I got with the GPON in WAN2 SFP port and further down with the ETH port being used.
              I gather this is striclty info from the actual port, not the device connected to it ?

              ifconfig -vvvm ix3
              ix3: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500
              options=e53fbb<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,JUMBO_MTU,VLAN_HWCSUM,TSO4,TSO6,LRO,WOL_UCAST,WOL_MCAST,WOL_MAGIC,VLAN_HWFILTER,VLAN_HWTSO,RXCSUM_IPV6,TXCSUM_IPV6>
              capabilities=f53fbb<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,JUMBO_MTU,VLAN_HWCSUM,TSO4,TSO6,LRO,WOL_UCAST,WOL_MCAST,WOL_MAGIC,VLAN_HWFILTER,VLAN_HWTSO,NETMAP,RXCSUM_IPV6,TXCSUM_IPV6>
              ether 90:ec:77:21:2f:c4
              inet6 fe80::92ec:77ff:fe21:2fc4%ix3 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x8
              media: Ethernet autoselect
              status: no carrier
              supported media:
              media autoselect
              media 10baseT/UTP
              media 100baseTX
              media 1000baseT
              nd6 options=21<PERFORMNUD,AUTO_LINKLOCAL>

              With the Ethernet port used - RJ-45 from the Media converter I get:

              ix3: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500
              options=e53fbb<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,JUMBO_MTU,VLAN_HWCSUM,TSO4,TSO6,LRO,WOL_UCAST,WOL_MCAST,WOL_MAGIC,VLAN_HWFILTER,VLAN_HWTSO,RXCSUM_IPV6,TXCSUM_IPV6>
              capabilities=f53fbb<RXCSUM,TXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,VLAN_HWTAGGING,JUMBO_MTU,VLAN_HWCSUM,TSO4,TSO6,LRO,WOL_UCAST,WOL_MCAST,WOL_MAGIC,VLAN_HWFILTER,VLAN_HWTSO,NETMAP,RXCSUM_IPV6,TXCSUM_IPV6>
              ether 90:ec:77:21:2f:c4
              inet6 fe80::92ec:77ff:fe21:2fc4%ix3 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x8
              media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseT <full-duplex,rxpause,txpause>)
              status: active
              supported media:
              media autoselect
              media 10baseT/UTP
              media 100baseTX
              media 1000baseT

                ix3 is the WAN1 port but I assume you meant that since it's showing the copper link?

                Try it in the WAN3 port (ix0). That should at least show you the module info if it can detect it. For example:

                [22.01-RC][admin@6100-2.stevew.lan]/root: ifconfig -vvvm ix0
                ix0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500
                	description: WAN3
