I have already downloaded the ISO on the memstick and booted from it. After boot the installation prompts for me to accept the copyright and disclosure. I can't hit the <accept>option. I don't know if it's my keyboard (I've tried 2 different USB keyboards) and issue with the ISO (I've tried different versions) or an issue with my hardware.

The memstick I'm using with the ISO on it is a 16gb. I used Rufus and tried win32

I want to install PfSense onto a 64gb SATA SSD which I should be prompted to do later in the installation process.

These are the steps I am following from PfSense. It shows the screen I am stuck on.

Probably the kernel that booted that doesn't recognize your USB-keywrod hadware on the motherboard.
        Play somewhat with BIOS settings.
or : try on install a vanilla FreeBSD OS.

Note : you can navigate in these kind of screens with the arrows and the TAB key. When selected the right option or buttonn, you hit enter.

Edit : and where are the logs ??

So you booted from the ISO… Where are you seeing this agree to license??

ahhh... Just did a install via the iso and see what your talking about.. See attached..

Hmmmm You could try installing a older say 2.4.0, I do not believe that was there then??  And then upgrade from the gui.. But if your usb keyboard is not working then you wouldn't be able to finish the install anyway.. What specific hardware are you installing too?

edit:  ah see you posted that Dell Ispiron 620 (i5), have to find someone that has also installed to that specific hardware to see if some problem with the usb and the installer.  Maybe there is something you can add to the boot options to get the keyboard to work, etc.

I put the same memstick in a my gaming system. I exhausted all options so I was going to use my gaming system to at least write the PfSense operating system onto the routers SSD. Same issue again! This is a completely different system. I tried changing memstick. Same issue… I'm going to try buying a new memstick and different SSD. That are the only two things that are the same.

What would either of those have to do with usb keyboard working?  Let me think, hmmmm oh yeah NOTHING ;)

You say your keyboard works when your machine is booting, you can access bios screen, select boot menu on it, etc.. Not sure why you would think pfsense would even boot on a gaming system?  Are you talking xbox or ps4 or something - or you just mean some other computer with different usb keyboard?

For clarification, by gaming system I mean custom build gaming computer. Specs are:
                Intel i7 4790k
                Msi Z97 Krait edition motherboard
                Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan Xp
16 GB Hyper X Fury Ram
Custom loop, SSD's, etc. etc. doesn't mater
Corsair K95 Keyboard - different keyboard that what I am using on the PfSense router.

                TLDR; Back on topic:
I tried using a regular hard drive and a different brand samsung SSD. No luck
                Brand new memstick. No luck
Re-downloaded and burned new ISO for the two available versions of PfSense.
Generic brand new USB keyboard. No luck

I can use all of my keyboards durring BIOS and in the PfSense boot up. For some reason i cant during the initial installation process.

Still stuck on the <accept>screen. NEED HELP!</accept>

I'm no pfSense expert but would seem to me that the problem must be a bios setting issue.  While I've never installed from ISO image on memory stick, numerous other folks have with no issues.  I always prefer to use a ISO image from a CD or DVD using CD/DVD drive and then disconnect the DVD drive after install.  DVD drives are cheaper than memory sticks in a lot of cases now days.

                    SOLVED!

I borrowed a couple different keyboards from a buddy. A different USB keyboard worked. It's a Cooler Master Devastator… gaming keyboard... who would have guessed... I don't quite understand why it works but it does. I would think all USB keyboards use the same decoding language.  ???

Thanks for the responses guys. Forward this to anyone else with the same issue.  :D

Also another note: The 3 other keyboards I tried still do not work in the PfSense local command line even after installing and getting past the <accept>screen. Only the Cooler Master one does</accept>

Are there any other solutions? I don't have this specific keyboard. Same issue. My keyboard works with other vm's on esxi 7.0

Something simple that happened to me a while ago. Have you tried pressing the "Scroll lock" key and try again? Sometimes it can happen that because you have the lock activated it does not allow you to press enter.

Yes, I know that it is a very old post, I am simply adding the information because it is the first Google search on the subject, and it may help someone.
