Currently running on a re-purposed R610 with the drives on a PERC 6/i in RAID1. With the move to ZFS, do I really need to go out and get an LSI9211 and flash it just to have the dual boot drives or can I continue to use the PERC 6/i without an issue?
I understand for file servers the desire to have the drives directly exposed to ZFS, but in this case, I'm thinking it will be fine.
This box was fresh installed with 2.5.2, so not sure if that is still using UFS or ZFS at this point.

That's ultimately up to you. The best practice is to use the drives directly (e.g. JBOD or similar mode) but if what you have is your only choice it's still better to use ZFS than UFS.

@jimp With it not being a file server I figure that having the card would be fine. Didn't think about putting the drives into JBOD and doing a mirrored zpool, just always told that the dark dimension will appear if one does that on a RAID controller LOL.
