      Hi,

v2.6.0CE has just been released and I am using a couple of packages on my 2.5.2 version.

Is there a way to figure out if my packages (arping 1.2.2_2, Avahi 2.2, bind 9.16_11, LADVD 1.2.2_2, openvpn-client-export 1.6_2) will still run with 2.6.0?

How can I figure out if they will work?

      Thanks!

      /KNEBB

@knebb If you have System/Update set to Latest Stable Version the package list is pulling from that (newer) version's packages. System/Package Manager/Installed Packages should show a red warning if the package isn't available, and/or you can search the list of available packages.

Just be sure not to install any packages for the newer pfSense version, that can cause problems.

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.

Sorry, I did not get it.... 😕

So if I am still running 2.5.2 it will nevertheless get the list of packages for 2.6.0?
And in 2.5.2 list of installedd packages- if there is no red sign the package is available for 2.6.0?

          Thanks again!

Correct. So per my sig, if you install a package intended for a newer pfSense version, you can break it (for instance if the package tries to upgrade PHP).

Yes, if I configure System -> Updates to stay at 2.5.2 (DEPRECATED) I do not see any available updates for my apps.

But when I change to 2.6.0 I see updates for some of the apps. Still not for all, but this should be not an issue as they will run anyways- because there is no red sign then.

Ok, I think I got it!

              Thanks a lot!
