I was on bare metal PFsense box as I was having trouble with VLANs in Hyper V but that issue is sorted out so I moved my router back to Hyper V
Every time I update PFsense from 2.5.2 to 2.6 my download speed goes from 900mbps down to .5mbps (or less) upload speeds still hold the same.

Anyone have any idea what would cause this? Fresh install. I assumed originally it was from loading my backup off the other machine, but tried with just installing and then upgrading PFsense, and same thing occured.
This is with just the LAN interface on fresh install, I tried changing DNS and such it didn't make any difference.

The Hyper-V issue is not really sorted out. The cause has been identified, and it requires some changes in the configuration of your Hyper-V virtual machines to fix. But some users are reporting that in certain situations the changes are not effective. There are some reporting that the VM changes have to be reapplied each time a VM is restarted.

If you have not discovered it yet, there is a very long thread about the Hyper-V issues with FreeBSD 12.3 here: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/169884/after-upgrade-inter-v-lan-communication-is-very-slow-on-hyper-v.

@bmeeks thank you for pointing that out. Good to know, I'll stick with current version for now then.

Yeah, there is an issue with the RSC feature which is enabled in hn(4) in FreeBSD 12.3 and hence in 2.6.
Depending on how you are hitting it you can workaround it by disabling RSC on the vSwitches or in the VM interfaces. The vSwitch change is permanent, the VM interface change is not.

Since you are seeing slowness to the WAN you may be able to resolve it using only the switches.
