Is there a problem with the update servers? I'm having trouble from four different firewalls, (2) SG-1100, an SG-1000 and CE. They are either saying Unable to check for updates or if they show 22.01 (or 2.6 in the case of the CE) when you click to update, either nothing happens or the download starts but runs extremely slow then errors out saying connection terminated.

There is no issue I'm aware of, I updated some firewalls just earlier.

Try running at the command line: pkg-static -d update

That should give you more debug info on why it's not working.

There could be a problem with the network path between your firewall and Netgate. If your WAN has IPv6, it could also be a problem with IPv6. If that is the case, you can set the option to prefer IPv4 under System > Advanced on the Networking tab.

ISP doesn't support IPv6. It's set to none on all interfaces. Would doing the prefer IPv4 still be applicable?

Just tried it again on one I've been having problems with for almost 24 hours now. Update is now just taking off and downloading files like normal. Nothing changed on my end. Sure seems like an update server problem to me. Going to try the other ones tonight after work hours.

If your IPv6 is set to none on all interfaces then that option wouldn't make a difference.

Working some times and not others still could be an issue along the path, something in between could be very busy/backlogged/degraded/who knows.

If it was slow for everyone then it's more likely to be a server issue, but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Maybe just a fluke with the ISP. Four different firewalls in different locations but just so happens all the same ISP. One is updated just fine now. Two are checking for updates okay (can't run until after hours).

One left with a message "Another instance is already running... Aborting!" when I try to run update from SSH. Any ideas on that error? Or start new thread for that one?

Never mind. Followed this: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/170151/update-error-another-instance-is-already-running-aborting/4?_=1646339942879 and I'm good.
