I need to operate IPsec over GRE between a pair of pfSesnse routers.

I have a GRE tunnel working well. I have also configured IPsec. The IPsec tunnel works nicely.

pfSense appears to intelligently work out when to use IPsec, which is great when you are running over a WAN.

I THINK that I need to configure the peer (pfsense IPsec endpoint) as a gateway, so that I can route traffic to the gateway which will cause IPsec to be used.

When I try to configure this, it tells me that the gateway address is not associated with the GRE tunnel. Adding a static route for the gateway network does not help. I suspect that there is some other way to associate a network with the GRE tunnel.

Any pointers to help me here would be appreciated

      Steve
