Upgrade to 2.6.0 is ignored
-
Hi,
I have a 2.5.2 and I'd like to upgrade to 2.6.0. The channel is ok, and the GUI is reporting that 2.6.0 is available. If I try to upgrade via CLI, it install somethings, asks for a reboot, then restarts but it has still the old 2.5.2
If I try via GUI, it reports that install is failed. The file log contains:
upgradelog.txtany idea?
and why the log reports a lot of references to 2.5.1 ?thanks

@topogigio
Other has had issues with upgrade if zabbix package is installed.
I think one cure was to upgrade the zabbix package to a later vers.
Another to uninstall the package , and reinstall after the upgrade (seems like settings are remembered)/Bingo

Did you install a package before upgrading? Sometimes that can generate library errors because it ends up installing code for the later version, in some cases a later PHP.
re: 2.5.1, what is the date of that log file? It looks like the log for upgrading from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2.
I concur with uninstalling packages and reinstalling after. I do that for pfBlockerNG-devel and Suricata/Snort, not necessarily others though. Most will leave their settings by default and/or have a checkbox you have to check to remove the settings when uninstalling.
https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/install/upgrade-guide-prepare.html#packages:
"Do not upgrade packages before upgrading pfSense software. Either remove all packages or leave the packages alone before running the update. The safest practice is to remove all packages before upgrading to a new release. The upgrade process will handle packages automatically, but packages are frequently a source of problems. To ensure a smooth upgrade, note the installed packages, remove them, perform the upgrade, and then reinstall when the upgrade is complete."
If nothing else, you can install from an ISO and then restore your config from your downloaded backup file.

@bingo600 thank you, it was zabbix.
I removed Zabbix package only, then performed the upgrade without any problem and reinstalled Zabbix (I confirm that settings are remembered).
thank you
