6100 with Japanese ISP - NURO
-
Hi everyone:
I'm new to pfSense so have a lot to learn and excited to do so.
I just got a shiny Netgate 6100 and love it! Does everything I want and more and now I want to remove the ISP router, which is a Huawei device. Not sure if any of the Japanese residents have any experience with this because I'm thinking my problem is related to some restriction from the ISP. I'm subscribed to the So-Net NURO 10Gb plan and thought, since the 6100 has a couple 10Gb SFP+ ports, I could pull the ONU out of the Huawei and use that but when I try I don't get any connection and it appears the interface doesn't even come up. I've tried spoofing the MAC address and created a loader.conf.local file with the vaule of hw.ix.unsupported_sfp=1 but that didn't help.
Any advice from anyone on what I can try next?
Thank you!

It's a GPON SFP+ module?
If it doesn't even link it may not be possible. Are you able to try it in anything else? A media converter perhaps?
Beyond that I'd be looking a local user groups who might have tried something similar with other firewalls.
