      Dear everyone,

I am trying to configure pfsense with a usb 3g modem Huawei E303 as WAN.

It is recognized as cuaU0.0, cuaU0.1 and cuaU0.2 in pfsense.

It works in Xubuntu 16.04 using the GUI and no particular configuration.

In pfsense I monitored /var/log/ppp.log and it fails with 'ppp: [opt1_link0] chat: The modem responded with "ERROR" to the command "AT&F&C1&D2E0S0=0M1" at ModemCmd: label.'.

The only way I can make it work is through a custom ppp script in /etc/ppp.conf, then I use ppp -ddial myconnection. A new interface tun0 is created with the IP obtained from the provider.

The problem is I cannot find the tun0 interface in the webGUI of pfsense. I also tried to modify /var/etc/mpd_wan.conf but it did not survive reboot.

Is there a way I can use my tun0 interface or a custom ppp script in pfsense?

      Best regards

The modem is unhappy with M1.

          Thank you so much,

I just added AT&F&C1&D2E0S0=0 as init string, the modem works with /dev/cuaU0.0

          Solved!!!
