      Hello everyone,

I'm searching a tools that can automatically backup my config.xml everyday.
I tried RANCID but unfortunately I can't find any script that works so far...

      Thank you !

        @sley

        What is rancid ?

You are aware that you can set up Services >Auto Configuration Backup ?
You saw the videos, the official ones, or the one Lawrence made ?

        Backup to what / where ? A Microsoft device ? A NAS ? A connected USB drive ?

Edit : and where are the logs ??

          Hello @gertjan

RANCID is an open source software that allows you to make backups of network assets (HP ProCurve, Cisco, Juniper, etc.) in an automated way and above all, it manages versioning thanks to CVS. This makes it possible to follow the evolution of the configurations.

Yes I know for the auto backup, but I have many switch / routers (Cisco / mikrotik / PfSense etc…) to back up and I would like to back up all of this with 1 software to my own hard drive.

RANCID is an open source software

            Then you can ask them.
Or does pfSense needed to be adapted to support ?
pfSense has SSH and SFTP access, that would be more then enough to support any file transfer.

            Btw : RANCID

Is it possible that you post a link so everybody can see what you mean ?
I'm only finding metal and hard rock groups.

                RANCID
                RANCID-GIT

I asked them on GitHub, but they told me that RANCID will no longer be up-to-date and that I should use another solution. The problem is that the other solutions are all paid and very expensive, moreover it does not use Linux as an operating system, but Windows...

So not worth investing any time in then ? Only 'coders' could use it from now one.

Btw : if there is no purchase fee, it still isn't free.

                    Did you saw pfSenseBackup ?
That's what I am using for years now.

First alternative is Oxidized which already has code to backup from pfSense. Though I've never tried it myself.
