Odd Performance Issue

Not really sure where to put this one, but I have a very odd performance issue. I recently put together a PFSense router with some 10Gb NICs to act as a bridge and provide some 10Gb support. While I know that without a dedicated switch it is unlikely I am going to get the full 10Gb of performance I have a very odd issue happening.
If I transfer a file from my NAS to my desktop computer it transfers at about 250 MB/s, but if then transfer that same file a second time it comes across at 500+ MB/s. This seems like some sort of caching or compression issue to me but I have no idea where to even start looking for a solution. Any ideas would be helpful at this point!

Yes, that sounds exactly like some caching.
Check the traffic graphs in pfSense to see what the actual rate is. That should show you where it's cached.

@stephenw10 As far as I can tell it is coming and going to just the two IP addresses in question. It doesn't show any sort of extraneous IP in the graph. Any specific settings I should be looking for?

I mean is it showing 250MBps or 500MBps on the wire?
If it's not showing 500 then it's cached at the client somehow. Otherwise if that's the real speed it's probably cached in the NAS.

@stephenw10 Ahhh I see. Yeah it definitely shows the two speeds coming from the NAS. Nothing in between. So yeah it must be cached at the NAS, but I've never seen anything like this. Will have to keep hunting it. Thanks for the help!
