      Please help.

I have LDAP auth configured (it has only few users) and LDAP server is available at the boot time.

This happens sporadically with all my 2.6.0 pfSenses

Are you deliberately breaking out if the boot scripts to reach the login prompt there?

If you hit ctl+t while it appears stuck what does it show?

Is this a clean install or has this started after upgrading?

        Steve

          Hi Steve,

Yes, I did deliberatly break the process because otherwise it can wait forever. For example the below screenshot was takes today after 5 hours of waiting.

When I press Ctrl+C it prompts for shell name.

it's been working for months but today Web interface has stopped responding and I rebooted it it via VMWare.

          Thanks,
          Ev

OK so what does Ctrl+T show it's waiting for at that point?

              Hi Steve,

Thanks for prompt response - it look like I've found the issue's root cause . It's always the DNS. :)

I use FreeIPA for my DNS server and the one used by this firewall was in a stall and unresponsive state. The firewall has returned to normal immediately after I restarted said DNS server.

              Regards,
              Ev

It only happens when LDAP auth is configured and selected in "Authentication Server" field and LDAP server is unavailable.

How can I unstuck pfSense from this situation besides fixing the LDAP server asap.

"unstuck " is the same as "no access" in this case.
That's the next best situation, as this is related to security.

See it as a credit card : if you lost your PIN, there is no 'plan B'.

Edit : and where are the logs ??
