I swapped out a Ubiquiti ER-X for pfSense on a Protectli Vault due to StarLink routing issues. That's fixed the routing issues, but I'm not getting an IPv6 delegation now. IPv6 just worked on the ER-X.

I've looked up numerous how-tos for IPv6. All my settings appear correct, IPv6 is enabled, and I'm running rtsol every 2 minutes on my WAN interface as a cron job.

I saw that some system tuneables are needed to make IPv6 work on Telstra (Australia) services. Is there anything odd or obscure needed for StarLink?

      Edit: Using pfSense CE 2.6.0

        Not looking good.

rtsol: checking if igb0 is ready...
        rtsol: igb0 is ready
rtsol: set timer for igb0 to 0s
        rtsol: New timer is 0s
rtsol: timer expiration on igb0, state = 1
rtsol: set timer for igb0 to 4s
        rtsol: New timer is 4s
        rtsol: rtmsg type 1, len=240
        rtsol: New timer is 2s
rtsol: timer expiration on igb0, state = 2
rtsol: set timer for igb0 to 4s
        rtsol: New timer is 4s
rtsol: timer expiration on igb0, state = 2
rtsol: set timer for igb0 to 1s
        rtsol: New timer is 1s
rtsol: timer expiration on igb0, state = 2
rtsol: No answer after sending 3 RSs
        rtsol: stop timer for igb0
        rtsol: there is no timer

So after more digging, it seems that it's not an issue with my pfSense configuration after all.

Many StarLink customers' public IPv4 addresses changed recently, which we thought was just a reallocation of addresses from the US to other parts of the world. Many of us got security alerts about suspicious logins from odd places. In my case, Boise, Idaho (I'm in Australia).

But what has happened is that StarLink has been moving customers from Google's infrastructure onto its own servers, Autonomous System 14593. And AS14593 doesn't do IPv6 yet.

I had noticed that my apparent ISP, as noted on Ookla speed tests, had changed from Google WiFi and was toggling between "Space Exploration Technologies" and "SpaceX Starlink".

Long story short, all I can do is wait for Starlink to catch up to the 21st century.

            Why wait ?

I am now getting IPv6 addresses assigned by Starlink again. I didn't change anything but just noticed it today. I enabled WAN ping and can ping it from the mobile network. I am running rtsol every two minutes.

This hasn't worked for over six months, but today I noticed it was working again.
