      Setup

      lenovo laptop
1gb ethernetport going to cable modem
1gb USB to ethernet going to 1gb switch
      cables all run at 1gb

before i start i just want to say this setup worked perfectly on "pfSense-CE-memstick-2.3.4-RELEASE-amd64.img" no bottle knecks,

      issue

all iv done is did a fresh install of the later vesion "pfSense-CE-memstick-2.6.0-RELEASE-amd64.img" everything looks the same

My issue is that i get network to network for example Desktop to laptop 22MB file transfer which exchanged to roughtly 220mb transfer rate i know its no where near the 1gb rate but its well above 100mb so on this test all seemed well

Also i ran a speed test directly from the pfsense router its senf using Speedtest installed see results all looks well there

Download: 219.09 Mbps (data used: 315.5 MB)

Upload: 20.96 Mbps (data used: 20.1 MB)

The part where it gets bad is when i try running a speed test for example on any local pc it dosent get past out at 100mb as you can see my broad band is 200mbs so something is bottlenecking it iv triad varius providers no matter what i do it dont go up also rebooted all devices This was all working fine before the upgrade,

      WAN 1000baseT <full-duplex> "."."."
      LAN 1000baseT <full-duplex> 192.168.1.1

      d1d3c581-380a-4829-9b23-be5121a4af2b-image.png

So given that the transfer rates are at 220mbp over lan/wirless this is double the 100mbs im seeing from lan to wan it would seem some kind of configurations is limiting the speed here

Does any one have any idias what could be happning here? thanks for reading

as i thought no changes to hardware 100% the same only software

Test from the same client to the internet and as you can see the results below so god knows what

2.6.0 is doing but guessing theres something messed up and ill need to steer clear of it for now,

          7c65ff53-08a6-472d-a77e-35d4b42599a3-image.png

the version i dropped to was

          pfSense-CE-memstick-2.5.0-RELEASE-amd64

one thing i must mentions was that with this build it did not pick p the USB card autimaticly i had to use an artical i used in the past to get that enabled which was fine

          https://getlabsdone.com/how-to-fix-usb-ethernet-not-recognized-by-pfsense/

This guide will allow your card to enable if its not showing in PFsense for unknown reasons life saver

This is almost certainly the USB Ethernet NIC limiting to 100M.

In 2.5.0 you had to switch usb config index like it shows in that link and it then found the device using the generic cdce driver?

In 2.6 I imagine it's using the specific Realtek USB driver which was added in 2.5.2.

            Check the boot logs.

Though, as it says in that linked artical, USB Ethernet is notoriously terrible and using VLANs on the other Gigabit NIC would work far better.

              @stephenw10 Thanks for your response

im glad i managed to get it working again be it on an earlyer version but not as old as the other one all it was for was to be able to run speed test from the firewall its self on the older image it was past it least now i can do that, iv run my pfsense on a few laptops and i love it would never go back to normal router these are just to flexable amzing kit,

Thanks for your input regarding this issue,

If it isn't running the ure(4) driver you may need to load the module. That may pass at full speed.
