Gateworks Device

Is it possible to install pfSense onto a Gateworks Ventana GW5520.
It runs an ARM Cortex-A9. I have a number of these devices and would like to use them with pfS if I can. -
pfSense CE, "no", you can't install that on ARM hardware as it is Intel only.
The Cortex-A9 is a 32-bit CPU, so the only thing that "might" work there would be pfSense Plus copied from an SG-3100 image. But still not sure that image would load as it wants to see certain Marvel hardware I believe during boot.
I would say the short answer is you can't run pfSense on that hardware. And even if you did find an image that would load, I don't recommend it. There are too many little irritating issues/bugs with that 32-bit platform when using lots of legacy software packages.

Thanks for the info.
What about an image for the old SG-1000 with the ARM Cortex A8?
Might that work? -
It's unlikely you would get that to run, you can't boot the SG-1000 image on the SG-3100 for example. ARM images are not like x86 images, each image has to be carefully tailored to the platform.
I would first try to boot an OpenWRT image. There may already be an image for that device and if not there is probably one for something very similar.Steve

@stephenw10 Thanks for your reply. Yes there are OpenWRT images for this device, will do some testing.
