Protect Gateway IP address
-
Hello everyone,
Is there maybe a way of protecting the (PFsense) gateway IP address for my lan users.
last week a client added a router to the network which was using the IP-address of the PFsense LAN gateway
Thank you in advance!

@brian-smit
Practically no,
Having said that, its bad design from your part to have your main router to a default private address
(namely 192.168.1.1 2.1 et al)
Pick something else.If such router is plugged in, it will also give out rogue dhcp addresses.
This can be stopped at the switch level (which must support such feature)In retrospect, changing default gw or even worse. renumbering lans is always a pain.

Make sure no one can plug anything into the network. If you have exposed switches that can be reached, then shutdown the ports that arent used. That way no one can plug anything into the switch and make it work.
Run the network on a different network segment than the standard 192.168.x.x segment.

Thank You both !
I indeed going to make sure that nobody can plug things into the switches and i change the 192.168.x.x into something else
