Bandwidth Limit causing Internet dropout
-
Hello, hoping someone can give me advice on this.
I have pfsense set up with bandwidth limit through traffic shaper. It used to work before and I just removed it because we had a slow connection. Now that I just recently set it up, the internet connection drops. Same goes for when I set up a block access to the internet for a group of IPs (through Alias).
Another thing, what could I be missing where I can't ping an IP but can access the shared files on it. I have multiple networks in my pfsense.

Do you have captive portal enabled? There's a patch for that in the System Patches package. (see various other threads)
re: can't ping, usually:
- ICMP not allowed in firewall between networks
- ICMP not allowed by target host's firewall (common if outside its subnet)

@steveits Yes, I do have Captive Portals running but on a different network port. Does that cause a problem? Lately we've also been experiencing drops in our internet connection even without the bandwidth limit.

ICMP not allowed by target host's firewall (common if outside its subnet)Haven't done that yet, but I have learned from watching Tom from Lawrence System's video about ICMP.
Thanks for your answer

I don't quite get what you mean here. I am still searching for answers.

It will be fixed in 22.05: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/releases/22-05.html#captive-portal

@steveits I've already installed the patches thanks to you.
I still need to reboot pfsense thought since there are people using it currently so I'll know if its working after the reboot.

@steveits the error is still there. When I enable the bandwidth limit, all the other computer lose internet connection.

Same issue here, I have a totally unrelated interface with a 40 Mbps traffic shaper on upload and download, whenever I enable captive portal on an unrelated interface and enable per user bandwidth limitation any other interfaces with a traffic shaper completely lose internet. What is happening here?
