The best way to get news on new stabile releases
-
I am wondering, whether there is a mailing list specifically for finding out, when a new stabile build has been released. Or is this something that my pfSense box can inform me of in some way?

@dominikhoffmann you could sign up for the newsletter here
https://www.netgate.com/resources/newsletters
There is the rss feed you can add to the gui
Yes pfsense itself should tell you if there is an update available right on the gui under the system widget.
You can keep an eye on their blog releases tag
https://www.netgate.com/blog/tag/releases
You can also check in on releases page now and then.

@johnpoz @DominikHoffmann RSS feeds??? COOL!!! You could even plug that into a URL reader on Java and create a program to read them like I did. Check it out.
(Image: My Program I created for Sierra College to help in Java Tutoring Reads RSS feeds)
(Image: My Program even will search for keywords and count them, I tested with firewalls however, nothing in UN news today has the keyword firewall today) -
@johnpoz: I added https://www.netgate.com/blog/tag/releases to my Wachete page. It will check the page for content changes every 24 h and send me an email, if change was detected.

@dominikhoffmann I'm late to the thread but you could use my script to have your pfSense notify you when updates are available to the base as well as any installed packages.
