22.05 Upgrade question - ZFS/snapshots

My pfSense system is already set up with ZFS, and has been since the version it was first made available. In order for snapshot functionality to be enabled, do I need to back up my config and start from scratch? Or can I simply upgrade my current installation, since ZFS is already in use? Also, if I do need to start from scratch, since this isn't on a Netgate device, I assume that I'd need to download 2.7 CE and then re-upgrade to pfSense Plus?
Only want to do the upgrade once, so just need to know the best way to go.

@mikev7896 How new is your install? When they made ZFS the default the file system layout changed. I don't think that change is required though. 22.01/2.6 just says "Users who were already using ZFS may want to reinstall as well to ensure they have the most optimal disk layout."
There's nothing like that listed in requirements.
2.7 isn't out yet, they aren't releasing that with 22.05. But yes from other posts it sounds like 2.6->Plus is the way to reinstall.

I'm pretty sure my 2.6 install was an upgrade (and I upgraded to Plus as soon as they allowed non-Netgate devices), so my last clean install was probably somewhere in 2.5. I know for sure that when ZFS became available, I did a clean install to use it instead of UFS.
I stole the sig from someone somewhere a few years ago. But it's still 100% true.

Well, I installed 22.05 without issue, and have the boot environments option in the menu... looks like it's working. Though my last clean install might be a bit older than I thought... the "default" environment is showing that it was created in August 2018 (as opposed to the 22.01 snapshot taken just prior to the upgrade which shows today's date)... so it might've been from 2.4.4, which I probably installed as an RC, then have only done release upgrades since.
But it's working, so I'm happy about that.

For reference, currently you would need to re-install 2.6, upgrade to 22.01 and then update that again to 22.05.
At some point the CE > Plus upgrade repo will be switched to 22.05 and then it should be possible to update to it from either 2.6 and 2.7.
