Never ending dhcp requests

I keep getting this message in the system log every 60 secs…  The log is filling up.
Aug 21 23:43:51 dhclient[292]: DHCPREQUEST on vr0 to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX port 67
Aug 21 23:43:25 dhclient[292]: SENDING DIRECT

The system is up and running, and no problems.  I can still manually renew and release the ip, so the system is not blocking the port.  Do we have to manually open up a port or do something special?? 
ver 1.2.1

Any hints?
