Is there any way to force this? In previous versions it would allow it and now it says "Running a newer version.".
The 22.09 is slightly too buggy right now and so I want to go back to 22.05. But its being blocked. Running the upgrade command in the console does not yield anything either.

      Thanks

@darkjacky There's not a downgrade path, you'll need to reinstall and restore the config. If you have Netgate hardware you can open a free ticket to get the firmware for your model.

Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to reboot, or more depending on packages, and device or disk speed.

That was never actually allowed. You could force it by setting the upgrade branch to 22.05 and then forcefully reinstalling everything (e.g. pkg update -f; pkg upgrade -f) but it's better to reinstall.

What I did because everything was down... Downloaded the 2.7 version and tried to write it to a disk but that somehow hung every time. So then I downloaded the 2.6 version and upgraded my way from there back to 22.05. This time I have ZFS so I should be able to downgrade (I think) if this happens again.

What is weird is that you can go from say 2.7 to 2.6 just fine so I don't understand why this is not the case with 22.09 to 22.05. Especially since 22.09 is a development build. It auto upgraded from 22.05 because it was set to develop branch about a month ago.

You absolutely cannot go from 2.7 to 2.6 "just fine". No downgrade path has ever been viable.

There may be ways to force it, but it is not supported.
