Lost ipv6 connectivity on TrueNAS Core after upgrade from 22.01 to 22.05
-
Hi,
My TrueNAS core box is configured for IPV6 stateless auto-config on LAN with the pfsense interface on the same physical network configured to advertise in "assisted" mode on the LAN prefix.
This setup has been working well for more than year and through multiple versions. After upgrading to 22.05, the TrueNAS server (and its jails) lost ipv6 connectivity, and is unable to get it back.
No changes to the pfsense configuration happened other than the upgrade. IPV6 rules were, and still are, permissive.
The server is unable to even ping the router. When running a packet capture on the LAN interface, I see repetitive ICMP6 neighbor solicitation packets emitted from the TrueNAS address, that go unanswered.
It looks like similar symptoms have been described by @louis2 (here) and @junicast (here), all on the new version (or its dev snapshots). But their issues have gone unanswered, and a bug open by @louis2 was even closed by the dev team.
Is the fact that multiple people are experiencing the same issue hinting at a bug somwhere pfsense? My experience (worked before upgrade, stopped working after) certainly points this way. Did anyone else observe this? How to troubleshoot further (and ideally resolve)?

@dualmoo
Yeah it seems like it.
We tried so many stuff like switching Hardware, rebuilding config from scratch, disabling LACP strict mode.
Nothing really helped. Currently our plan is to downgrade, which will be a bit cumbersome, since there are plenty of changes eversince and the config version changed AFAIK.Juni

Looks like a bug has been filed by the dev team.
