Possible to get address for CARP IP from DHCP?
-
I did some searching in the forums and I came close to finding the answer, but not quite. I read this post:

CyberTiVo asked my question but it looks like he didnt get an answer. I see that you can do CARP with a single public IP, but I get my IP dynamically from the ISP, so I would need my CARP interface to get that address dynamically as well. Im still in the planning stages so I dont have the ability to test this yet, but from what Ive seen you need to statically assign CARP IPs. Is that the case or no?
Cheers

No, it is not possible. CARP is not compatible with DHCP WANs, or any dynamically assigned WANs for that matter (PPPoE, L2TP, etc).
