Upgrade from 2.4.x to 22.x Failed with Constant Reboot
-
I have a Netgate SG-3100 that had 2.4.x on it and when I tried to update it to 22.x the upgrade failed and now when connecting the serial cable, you can see a message that the device will automatically reboot in 15 seconds. It just continues through this loop. I do have a backup of the configuration prior to performing the update. Is there anyway continue the update, or to download software to restore the SG-3100 to defaults with version 2.4.x or 22.x and restore the configuration?

@fcifelli Yes you can get the installer from Netgate for free.
Interesting, I had a problem on a 3100 with an old version skipping to a newer (22.01??) as well. I've seen Netgate suggest reinstalling if it is old enough. IIRC, I had tried upgrading to "previous stable version" before the current, which I've done in the past successfully (esp. when it didn't detect the latest).

There should be a lot more detail being printed to the console than just that it's restarting. It sounds like it's hitting a kernel panic and crashing. Without seeing the entire log of the error and backtrace it's impossible to say for certain.
The best course of action would be to contact TAC and get a recovery image and reinstall the operating system, then restore a configuration backup.

@jimp A support incident was opened with TAC after my original post. They provided a link and instructions to reinstall firmware on the 3100. It is working again. Thank you for your input.
