New dual Wan not working
-
Hello,
I have installed a second fiber ISP at my house and I've tried to attach it to my SG 2100 via LAN Port 2. I know the new connection works because I connected it directly to my laptop. I've attached a ton of images for all the changes I made to get this working. As you can see on the Dashboard the IP address of the new ISP is 0.0.0.0. Any advice as to why it isn't working would be greatly appreciated. If you need more information, please ask and I will get it for you.
Many thanks in advance.https://imgur.com/a/btOrw0U

@nickyw
Seems you don't get an IP from the DHCP server.
What shows the DHCP log? Look for client lines. Is WAN2 assigned to the proper network port?

Is WAN2 assigned to the proper network port? Thanks for your reply. How do I view the DHCP log? How do I check that WAN2 is assigned to the proper network port? (Sorry, I'm a newbie.)

Status > System Logs > DHCP
How do I check that WAN2 is assigned to the proper network port?
Interfaces > Assignments
Which plug did you connect the WAN2 to on the case?

@nickyw Just to be clear did you go through the steps of making LAN2 a discrete port?

@viragomann Yes, my new ISP Ethernet is definitely connected to the correct port; LAN 2.
Attached is a list of recent DHCP log entries. There are a lot of ERROR entries with little additional information.

@steveits I will double check this.

@nickyw I'm guessing it wasn't done, then. :) If not, ports 1-4 are all ports on the same switch for LAN. So connecting ISP2 to LAN is basically the same as plugging ISP2 into your network switch. You don't need to make all 4 ports discrete, just any you want to isolate into their own network. So if you just isolate port 2 then it can be used as WAN2 leaving you with LAN 1, 3, and 4 on the same LAN network.

@steveits I have followed the steps in this section. Should my parent interface be mvneta0 WAN or mvneta1 LAN? I currently have it set to mvneta0 WAN.
-
@nickyw "5. Choose mvneta1 (MAC Address) - lan from the Parent Interface drop-down menu."
You're telling pfSense that port 2 on the LAN switch should be treated as its own VLAN.

@steveits That fixed it! You're a superstar! I owe you a pint. Or six.
