Switching from nanoBSD to full install - compact flash still works?
-
Hi,
In planning for 2.4, I understand I need to move from nanoBSD to a full install. Some of those devices will get their SSD drives, but I wanted to know, for those devices that do not have a Sata port (only a CompactFlash slot), can I run the full product on a compactFlash card or does it absolutely need a mSata/Sata drive?
Bonus question: If a full install is possible on a CompactFlash card, what would the minimal size of a CompactFlash card for decent usage? (no snort, no squid, or anything requiring real disk space).

You can run a full install from CF, but it will be slow (because it's CF) and it might have some wear issues (also because it's CF).

Thanks - that answers my question.

And on top of this I would recommend to get a 4 GB CF card or have a detailed look in the download area
that is offering the right image size for your card, 1 GB is gone not not more available without fiddling. -
I've actually been considering doing the opposite when 2.4 comes out.
Currently running a full install on my APU2 with a 60gb SSD, but I'm considering switching to a nanoBSD install when 2.4 comes out.

NanoBSD has been deprecated and does not exist on 2.4, thus the original purpose of this thread. You'll have to run a full install on 2.4.

Oh. Well. I guess that settles that. Thanks!
