Would like help to find a custom pfsense router build [SOLVED]
-
Hello! :)
I want to create a custom Pfsense router build, that focuses on the lowest power consumption possible, as well as the lowest money consumption on my wallet :P.
I have a home network of 3 users, streaming/downloading on 5 devices pretty much 24/7. Some of those devices are running a VPN.
My internet speed is 100/100 Mb/s.Here is the build that i was suggested by a friend: https://imgur.com/a/RomRu
I was also recommended this box by a reddit user: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0179S50UU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_5031xbD43WAQQ?th=1I am not interested in wireless capabilities, just cable connections.
I want to know whether or not these builds are overkill, and if i could find something cheaper/lower power usage build.
If you guys have a build YOU would recommend, it would be very much appreciated.
Feel free to let me know if i should post more details to help narrow down and find the perfect build. Thanks a bunch! ;D

If power is of primary concern, the SG-1000 uses 2.5W when idle and is about $150 complete with a pfSense Gold subscription which is most definitely worth the money just for the videos alone.

Could this device support all the clients and traffic mentioned? Its seems very familiar to the Raspberry Pi….
Thanks for the answer btw! :D

With ease. I can't find the link anymore, but Jim Thompson posted some performance metrics that showed it could handle your requirements without breaking a sweat.
