Upgrade to 2.6.0 problems
-
Problems encountered when upgraded to or fresh install of 2.6.0
- made the captive portal block internet
- traffic limit blocks all internet
tested:
- 2.4.5 direct upgrade
- 2.5.2 direct upgrade
- fresh install 2.6.0 then used the backup restore made from 2.5.2
I don't know where to forward this problem I found. Kindly redirect me if I posted on the wrong thread category.

@verzion32 I donโt use captive portal but I recall several long threads this past year. Check that forum?
Install the System Patches package and see if it has any patches for CP. -
Get the date when pfSense 2.6.0 came out. You'll find it at the Netgate pfSense Blog pages, for example.
With this date in mind : locate that moment here : Home pfSense Software Captive PortalNow, start reading upwards
As @SteveITS said : install the pfSense System patches package - there might be some patches for the captive portal.
-
@verzion32 Now that I can access a 2.6 router, the patch is "Fix Captive Portal handling of non-TCP traffic after login (Redmine #12834) ." It was fixed in Plus 22.05 but there was no matching release for CE.
-
I had 2.6.0 working back then.
Was hit by the "TCP only" bug, but that was solved, as it was an issue on the forum and "some one" proposed a solution.
I 2.6.0 still ipfw based ? -

I 2.6.0 still ipfw based ?
Seems like it. Per https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/12834#note-17, "...the upcoming 2.7.0 release, which will be stripping out ipfw altogether from the captive portal."

I guess I'll just wait for the next upgrade or just stay in the working version since the feature I need on the captive portal was fixed on 2.5.2 version. I guess no need to fix something that is working.
