XG-7100 LACP on SFP+ ports?

Hi,
Can someone tell me if LACP is supported on the SFP+ ports? I'm aware it's not supported on the inbuilt 8 port switch.

In general it is. The ix0 and ix1 ports are standard interfaces and can support any lagg modes the pfSense can do in software.
Are you seeing a problem creating an LACP LAGG?Steve

Hi, I know this is old.
But I also changed the LAGG from Loadbalancing to LACP yesterday and poof I could not have access anymore.
Is this still normal behaviour?
So LACP is still not possible on the 7100 ?BR

On the ix0/1 ports?
Is it a very early 7100?
Running the current Coreboot version?

To be honest, I can't remember if I got it working. I don't use them now and built my own chassis. I'm pretty sure I did.I had to make changes to the firewall to allow access. I connected via the regular ports until I got it working. I also had the optional 4 gi/port module installed and these worked fine with LACP.

@stephenw10 no, not the ix0/1 ports on the LAGG that is already there.
It is standard on Loadbalancing, but when I change this to LACP, it was gone.
Now, I just realised. My laptop was directly connected to the netgate.
Maybe I should put the unifi switch in between and enable the aggregated option first ?

Oh then, no, that's not supported. The on-board switch only supports load-balancing lagg type.
The default lagg is only between the internal ix2/3 ports and the on-board switch. Connecting an external switch would make no difference there.
The only way you can use LACP there is to break the default lagg, set the on-board switch to port vlan mode, create separate VLANs between, for example, ix2 - Eth1 and ix3 - Eth2.
Then you can create an LACP LAGG on Eth1/Eth2 to some external switch. However doing than means the Eth3-8 ports become unusable.Steve

If I would break the LAGG, I would have to first have access via the IX0/1 I guess? :)

Yes, you would definitely want access to the firewall via some route that didn't involve the switch.
At the very least you would want console access so you can roll back changes.Steve

Problem is for the moment I have no gbic with fiber, but only the RJ45 and apparently that does not work on the IX0 / 1
Also once I have those, I would like to have the 'LAN' on the IX0 and 1 , and only the WAN on ETH1. But I have like 8 VLANs
I used to 'activate' them in switches and tag it like 2t 9t and 10t so all is on the ETH2
But how do I tag these vlans on the IX 0 / 1 ? -
If those VLANs need to be on the fiber link with LAN you would need to create them as, for example, ix0.2 and then re-assign the interfaces to that once it's connected.

I now have 10G gbic with fiber and connected them, but I still have "NO CARRIER"I do have a switch with only 1G SFP, is that the problem? Or do I need to look elsewhere??

A lot of NIC/module combinations that are dual speed will only link at 1G if you force that speed in the interface settings.

Ok, but when I connect a netgear switch 1G with 1G gbic to a unifi 1G with 10G gbic , it works.But when I connect the OPT port on the netgate 7100 which has a 10G gbit to any of those switches, I keep seeing NO CARRIER and no data is passed....
Where does it go wrong?
Does the Netgate only allow 10G to 10G connections ?

Are you using dual speed SFP modules? If so you probably need to set the link speed. You may also need to 'down/up' the interface, replug the module or reboot after making that change. The behaviour varies between modules. The ix0 and ix1 interfaces will link at 1G over fiber though.

In the OPT interface I can only choose 10 GBase...
So if these are only 10G , I can't tell???? , then, you mean it will not work on a 1Gbase speed switch?

Hmm, try this. At the command line run
ifconfig -vvm ix0
, assuming the module is in ix0.It will show you if it detects the module and what speeds the module reports it can run at.
I expect to see something like this if the module is capable:
