Installing pfSense

Good morning,

When trying to install pfSense using Virtualbox on my Macbook i am getting this error attached in the screenshot. I have looked through google and watched numerous videos and still no luck.

Try using fixed size virtual disk instead of dynamically allocated.

Have you tried switching disk controller mode from AHCI to IDE and vice versa ?

@nimrod I have not. I am assuming you do that from virtual box correct?

Correct.

Also, try playing with chipset type settings and try legacy BIOS mode instead of UEFI. if nothing works, then your host system that runs VirtualBox has some issues.

@nimrod thank you for the insight I’ll mess around with it later and let you know what comes of it.

If you choose restart then select rescue shell you can check the install log file to see what actually failed there.
It's probably an issue specific to VBox in OSX though (or maybe on ARM?). I've installed pfSense in VBox many times and it works fine.
